Waarom hebben we jouw hulp nodig?
Film maken is een dure onderneming, en om deze film de authenticiteit en kwaliteit te geven die het verdient, hebben we extra middelen nodig. We willen een indringend en visueel krachtige film maken, maar dit vereist specifieke kostuums, realistische props en ervaren acteurs. Jouw steun helpt ons niet alleen om een unieke en sterke kortfilm te realiseren, maar ook om een verhaal te vertellen dat anders nooit verteld zou worden.

Het Verhaal
"Red Tape" is een indringend portret van Han, een jonge Noord-Koreaanse soldaat die wordt uitgezonden om voor Rusland te vechten in Oekraïne. Opgevoed in blinde loyaliteit en overtuigd van zijn onoverwinnelijkheid, betreedt hij het slagveld vol geloof in de ideologie die hem gevormd heeft. Maar te midden van het oorlogsgeweld brokkelt zijn overtuiging af. De film werpt geen oordeel over de oorlog zelf, maar onderzoekt de kracht van propaganda, indoctrinatie en de desillusie die volgt wanneer de realiteit die leugens niet langer ondersteunt. Terwijl de strijd om hem heen doorgaat, vecht Han een ander gevecht. dat van een individu dat weigert slechts een pion te zijn.

Belangrijk om te benadrukken: deze film heeft geen politieke agenda en neemt geen standpunt in over de oorlog zelf. Het is geen verhaal over goed of kwaad, maar een menselijke en introspectieve blik op een soldaat die vastzit tussen zijn overtuigingen en de realiteit. Oorlog kent geen winnaars, slechts verlies, en dat is de tragiek die we willen laten zien.

Waar wordt het geld aan besteed?
Om deze film de authenticiteit en productiekwaliteit te geven die het verdient, wordt het opgehaalde budget besteed aan:

Kostuums – Realistische militaire uniformen en accessoires om de film visueel geloofwaardig te maken, een zoektocht ernaar is zeer lastig. Maar het is gelukt! 
Props – Wapens, uitrusting en andere details die de setting versterken.
Acteurs – We willen getalenteerde acteurs betrekken die dit verhaal met emotie en nuance kunnen brengen.
Catering – Een goed gevoed team is essentieel voor een soepele productie. Hangry zijn is dus geen slim idee! 
Locaties – We willen filmen op plekken die de rauwheid en intensiteit van het verhaal ondersteunen. Die plaatsen kosten meestal geld :(
Voertuigen – Een militaire truck om de soldaten te transporteren (voor de film!) 

Vertalingen/tolken – Het scenario maakt gebruik van Noord-Koreaans, en dat kan men niet vertalen met google! ik ben in contact met Noord-Koreaanse verenegingen in Zuid-Korea, die mij gaan helpen voor de vertalingen en de correcte uitspraken van de teksten! 

Duur:

De duur van deze kortfilm is zeer kort! dat maakt het dus extra moeilijk! de Opdracht is om rond de 3 minuten te zitten, maar ik ga zelf een versie maken voor festivals van een duur tussen de 6 en 8 minuten.

Filmmaking is an expensive endeavor, and to give this film the authenticity and quality it deserves, we need additional resources. We aim to create a powerful and visually striking film, but this requires specific costumes, realistic props, and experienced actors. Your support will not only help us bring this unique and compelling short film to life but also allow us to tell a story that might otherwise never be told.

The Story
"Red Tape" is a gripping portrait of Han, a young North Korean soldier sent to fight for Russia in Ukraine. Raised in blind loyalty and convinced of his own invincibility, he enters the battlefield with unwavering faith in the ideology that shaped him. But amidst the chaos of war, his beliefs begin to crumble. The film does not take a stance on the war itself but explores the power of propaganda, indoctrination, and the disillusionment that follows when reality no longer upholds those lies. As the battle rages on around him, Han fights a different kind of war. one of an individual refusing to remain just a pawn.

It is important to emphasize that this film does not have a political agenda and does not take a stance on the war itself. This is not a story about good versus evil, but rather a human and introspective look at a soldier trapped between his beliefs and reality. War has no true winners, only loss,and that is the tragedy we aim to portray.

Where Will the Money Go?
To ensure this film has the authenticity and production quality it deserves, the budget will be spent on:

Costumes – Realistic military uniforms and accessories to enhance the film’s visual credibility. Finding them has been a challenge, but we did it!
Props – Weapons, equipment, and other details to strengthen the setting.
Actors – We want to involve talented actors who can bring this story to life with emotion and nuance.
Catering – A well-fed crew is essential for a smooth production. Being hangry on set is never a good idea!
Locations – We aim to film in places that reflect the rawness and intensity of the story. Unfortunately, these locations often come at a cost.
Vehicles – A military truck to transport soldiers (for the film, of course!).
Translations & Interpreters – The script includes North Korean dialogue, which cannot simply be translated with Google. I am working with North Korean organizations in South Korea to ensure accurate translations and proper pronunciation for the actors.

Film Duration
This short film is truly short! This makes it an even greater challenge. The official requirement is around 3 minutes, but I am also preparing a festival version that will run between 6 and 8 minutes to fully capture the story’s depth.
