LUCA School of Arts is very happy to welcome She She Pop for a one day seminar to LUCA School of Arts.
She She Pop is a Berlin-based feminist performance collective that emerged from the Giessen Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in the 1990s and practise a form of theatre that is committed to experimentation. They use the stage as a place of acute public exposure: here, decisions are made, ways of talking and social systems are tried out, speech gestures and social rituals are rehearsed or rejected. The members see themselves as authors, dramaturgs and performers of their stage productions. The inclusion of their own autobiographies is primarily a method, not the purpose of their work. But what exactly is their method?
In this seminar She She Pop talk about their way of turning the autobiografical into dramatical material. Together with them we will tackle questions like: how to turn the personal into something universal, what are the ethical questions that come up when working with the autobiographical. When does a autobiografical text become autotheoretical?
Programme
The seminar will be divided in two parts and will be held in English.
Part 1: 09:00-10:30
Introduction to their work by the performers + Q and A.
Location: Theaterzaal
Part 2: 10:30-14:00
Practical work on the Act of Writing and Speaking.
